Hi, I am Elena, a first-year PhD student in Data Science supervised by Professor Pietro Liò. My current research focuses on the analysis of multi-omics single-cell data using graph transformer–based foundation models. I am particularly interested in biomedical applications of artificial intelligence, with the goal of developing methods that are not only effective from a computational perspective but also interpretable and biologically meaningful.
I obtained my B.Sc. in Applied Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence from Sapienza University of Rome, followed by a Master of Engineering in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics at the same institution.
More broadly, I am interested in working in the bioinformatics field, especially at the intersection of computer science and biology. I am motivated to engage with new research challenges and to contribute to interdisciplinary projects that combine solid computational methods with domain knowledge from the life sciences.
